Our thoughtful student T, who recently sat the IELTS test in Australia, shared the following Speaking questions he remembered:
Speaking test
Part 1 (Interview)
– Where do you work?
– Do you like your job? Why or why not?
– Did you ever visit a library when you were a child?
– What do you usually do when you go to a library?
– Do you prefer quiet and peaceful places or busy and crowded ones?
– Describe a quiet or crowded place that you know.
– How often do you spend time in such places?
– Do you think people today have fewer quiet spaces than in the past?
Part 2 (Cue Card)
Describe a place where you planned to spend only a short time but ended up staying longer. You should say:
– what the place was
– why you went there
– how long you planned to stay
and explain why you stayed longer than expected.
Part 3 (Discussion)
– Why do people need to plan before a trip, and is it always necessary?
– Do you think it is better to follow a strict plan or just go with the flow when travelling?
– What is the importance of planning and being punctual in daily life?
– How can punctuality affect relationships and work?
– Japanese people are known to be very punctual. What can we learn from cultures like that?
– Do you think people nowadays value punctuality as much as in the past?
